Air Force men’s tennis lost to UNLV by a score of 4-1 in a Mountain West Conference match on April 9 at The Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sophomore Langdon Tingleaf was the lone singles winner for the Falcons.
The result is significant as it impacts Air Force’s standing within the conference and highlights areas for improvement ahead of their final home matches of the season.
UNLV secured the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3 positions before extending their lead with wins at No. 2 and No. 5 singles matches. Tingleaf earned Air Force’s only point by defeating Michael Kouame in straight sets, winning 6-4, 7-5 at No. 4 singles. UNLV clinched the overall victory with a win at No. 1 singles.
“It was a tough match for the Falcons today,” head coach Evan Urbina said. “We need to continue to improve our doubles. We did start singles exceptionally well, and credit to Langdon for closing out his match. Looking forward to the home weekend! Go Falcons!”
Air Force will return home for its final two matches of the regular season, hosting Nevada on Saturday, April 11 and North Dakota on Sunday, April 12.
