Air Force men’s tennis defeated Oral Roberts 6-1 in a non-conference match on April 3 at the USAFA Indoor Tennis Courts. The Falcons improved their season record to 7-10 with the win.
The result highlights Air Force’s performance as they secured the doubles point and won five out of six singles matches. Strong play from both doubles and singles teams contributed to the victory.
The Falcons started by winning at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, with AJ Moore and Langdon Tingleaf defeating Lucas Couy and Ricardo Filho, while Tyler Leaird and Caden Lee clinched another win against Cayden Cheek and Christian Pensavalle. In singles competition, Alec Fritzinger claimed the first point for Air Force by beating Rodrigo Guijarro in straight sets. Tingleaf followed with a win over Luis Marcos Bonifasi, also in straight sets.
Matthew Staton secured the clinching victory at No. 4 singles against Parv Nage, while Moore added another point after defeating Filho at No. 1 singles, and Leaird won his match against Pigus Reklevicius. The only loss for Air Force came when Jack Berry of Oral Roberts beat Caden Lee.
“Strong starts by our doubles teams set us up well today,” head coach Evan Urbina said. “I was grateful for sustained energy throughout the match, and it was awesome to see our full team compete. Go Falcons!”
Looking ahead, Air Force is scheduled to return to action on Thursday, April 9, facing UNLV.
