Air Force men’s water polo falls to #10 LMU in high-scoring match

Air Force men’s water polo team lost to #10 Loyola Marymount University (LMU) with a score of 21-16 in a West Coast Conference game held Friday night at the Burns Aquatic Center in Los Angeles, California. The defeat leaves Air Force with an overall record of 15-9 and 0-3 in conference play, while LMU moves to 7-8 overall and 1-1 in the WCC.

The match saw LMU take an early lead, ending the first quarter ahead 5-2. Both teams scored five goals each in the second quarter, resulting in a halftime score of 10-7 in favor of LMU. Air Force narrowed the gap to one goal during the third quarter after Tom Leggett scored, making it a 10-9 contest.

However, LMU maintained control for the remainder of the game and gradually extended their lead. Leggett was Air Force’s top performer with nine points and seven goals. Junior Jack Richards contributed five assists and six points. Senior Colin Chase recorded three goals for a hat trick, while senior Luca Smith made seven saves as goalkeeper.

Air Force is scheduled to play its next game on Sunday against Pepperdine.
