Air Force men’s tennis began its 2026 spring season with a 5-2 win over Montana State on Saturday at the USAFA Indoor Tennis Courts. The Falcons secured the doubles point after Jack Brown and Tyler Leaird won their match at No. 1, followed by AJ Moore and Langdon Tingleaf clinching the point in a tiebreaker at No. 2.

In singles play, Air Force claimed four out of six matches, winning the first three to secure victory early. Alec Fritzinger recorded the initial singles win at No. 4, defeating Camille Chantron in straight sets. Phillip Deaton followed with a straight-set victory over Andre Stewart at No. 1, and Jack Brown clinched the overall win for Air Force by overcoming Oumar Diallo at No. 2.

AJ Moore added another point for Air Force with a comeback win against Yassin Elaroussy at No. 3 after dropping the first set.

Head coach Evan Urbina commented on the team’s performance: “Today was a full team effort,” head coach Evan Urbina said. “The guys have put in the work to be prepared, and it was great to get back to competing. We battled through some pressure situations and were able to stay resilient throughout. Alec played some amazing tennis today to get the first win on the board and I was happy to see AJ battle through some adversity on his way to a three-set victory. We’re excited to hit the road next week in Nebraska. Go Falcons and thanks to all who braved the cold to attend our home opener!”

The Falcons will continue their season with upcoming matches against Creighton on January 30 and Nebraska on February 1.

Singles results included wins for Deaton, Brown, Moore, and Fritzinger from Air Force, while Ismanescu and Masselis from Montana State earned victories in other matches.

Montana State’s record moves to 1-1 following this contest.
