Air Force men’s swim & dive team secures win over Grand Canyon

The Air Force Academy men’s swimming and diving team achieved a 208-155 victory over Grand Canyon University in a dual meet held Saturday at the Cadet Natatorium. The Falcons finished the weekend with 22 first-place finishes.

The 400 medley relay team, consisting of Dylan Ferguson, Bridon Rosales, James Winterfield, and Jordan Falls, took first place with a time of 3:16.20.

Junior Tyler Surratt won the 1000 freestyle event with a time of 9:43.87. Evan Witte followed in second place at 9:50.59.

Matthew Doty secured first place in the 400 individual medley by finishing in 1:49.62.

Bridon Rosales was victorious in the 100 breaststroke, clocking in at 53.78 seconds.

Joe Christ led the field in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:38.19.

In the 200 butterfly, Danny Detjen placed first for Air Force with a time of 1:50.87. Jonas Dark (1:51.19) and Evan Witte (1:54.87) also finished among the top four competitors.

Dylan Ferguson earned second place in the 100 backstroke at 50.11 seconds, while Garrett Kennedy (50.53) and Matthew Doty (50.77) placed fourth and fifth respectively.

On the diving platform, Lucas Gerten claimed second place with a score of 357.50 points; Vann Hotchkiss took third place with a score of 305.70 points.

Air Force’s diving squad will next compete against Army at West Point on November 7 and November 8.
