Air Force men’s gymnastics prepares for All-Academy Championships against Army and Navy

The Air Force men’s gymnastics team, currently ranked 12th in the NCAA, will compete against No. 9 Navy and No. 13 Army West Point at the All-Academy Championships this Friday in Fort Worth, Texas. The event is scheduled for February 13 at the Fort Worth Convention Center as part of The Horton Challenge, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Central Time. Admission to the meet is free.

Navy enters the competition with a season average score of 306.925, placing them ninth nationally. Army West Point holds a season average of 302.417 and is ranked third on pommel horse with an average score of 52.733, led by Maddox Pabellon who ranks eighth individually on that apparatus with a score of 13.862. Navy’s Brian Solomon is listed tenth in the all-around category with an average of 78.300.

Air Force has a two-meet average of 302.575 and holds a top-10 national ranking on high jump (49.925, tied for ninth). Jack Matlock from Air Force is among the top ten nationally on pommel horse with an average score of 13.700.

Since the year 2000, Air Force has won twelve team titles at the All-Academy Championships, more than any other academy during that period; Army West Point has claimed seven titles and Navy six.

Six gymnasts and three coaches from Air Force have ties to Texas, including Sam Brown and Issac Koo who are originally from Fort Worth.

After this weekend’s meet, Air Force will return home to host the Rocky Mountain Mavericks on Saturday, February 28 for Senior Day at Cadet West Gym.
