Air Force men’s basketball lost its home opener to Austin Peay, 74-54, on Saturday at Clune Arena. Freshman guard Ethan Greenberg led the Falcons with 21 points.

Austin Peay improved to a 2-0 record by forcing Air Force into 22 turnovers, which resulted in a significant advantage of 31-15 in points off turnovers. The Governors had three players score in double figures, with forward Tate McCubbin leading the team with 19 points.

Air Force struggled offensively throughout the game, shooting 37 percent from the field and just 33 percent from the free throw line.

Greenberg was the top scorer for Air Force, making six out of ten attempts from three-point range and finishing seven-for-twelve overall. Junior Wesley Celichowski contributed ten points and achieved a career-high six rebounds.

Sophomore Eli Robinson added nine points along with game highs of ten rebounds and four steals. Freshman Kam Sanders scored eight points, while junior forward Josh Gatete recorded a career-best three assists.

The Falcons will play their next game on Tuesday, November 11, against Long Island in a Veteran’s Day matchup scheduled for 2 p.m. MT.
