Air Force is set to face Grand Canyon University for the first time in men’s basketball on Tuesday, February 3, at Global Credit Union Arena in Phoenix. The game will begin at 7 p.m. Mountain Time and will be broadcast on 3TV/MW Network with Daron Sutton, Dan Bickley, and Kate Longworth providing coverage. Fans can also listen to the radio broadcast on AM 740 KVOR or the Varsity App with play-by-play from Jim Arthur, and follow live statistics via Statbroadcast.
Air Force enters the matchup with a record of 3-18 overall and is winless in conference play at 0-10. The team is currently on a 14-game losing streak, most recently falling to Fresno State by a score of 79-62. In contrast, Grand Canyon holds a 14-7 overall record and stands at 7-3 in conference play, coming off an 86-79 win against Boise State.
This contest marks Air Force’s first game in Arizona since playing San Jose State in the state during the 2021 season. The Falcons’ roster relies heavily on its freshman class, which accounts for over half of the team’s scoring this season. Five of Air Force’s non-conference opponents are currently leading their respective conferences.
In terms of experience, Air Force players have combined for a total of 354 games played this season compared to Grand Canyon’s roster total of 863 games. At the start of the season, Air Force had just 132 games played and only 48 starts among its players.
Individual performances have also stood out for Air Force. Caleb Walker has been efficient offensively, shooting over 73 percent from the field overall and nearly 76 percent in conference matchups. He made 16 consecutive baskets across three games earlier this season, ranking as the fourth-longest such streak nationally.
Freshman guard Kam Sanders recently set a new school record by making all fifteen free throw attempts in a single game against South Dakota—a mark that breaks a school record set in 1958. Additionally, Air Force has maintained a streak of making at least one three-point basket in each of its last 509 games dating back to 2009.
Following Tuesday’s game against Grand Canyon, Air Force will return home to host San Diego State on Saturday, February 7. That game is scheduled for national television coverage on FS1 beginning at 6 p.m. Mountain Time.
