Air Force men’s basketball lost to Nevada 81-66 on Saturday at Clune Arena in a Mountain West Conference matchup. The Falcons, now with a record of 3-14 overall and 0-6 in conference play, saw freshman forward Lucas Hobin lead the team with 22 points, including six three-point shots.
Nevada improved to 12-5 overall and 4-2 in the Mountain West. The Wolf Pack shot 53 percent from both the field and beyond the arc. Guard Corey Camper led Nevada with 23 points and nine rebounds.
Air Force started strong, building an early 16-9 lead before Nevada responded with a decisive 21-0 run to take control of the game at 30-16. By halftime, Air Force trailed by eleven points after making seven three-pointers from five different players.
In the second half, Air Force scored another 37 points and added seven more three-pointers for a season-high total of fourteen made threes in one game. The Falcons also made all six of their free throw attempts and recorded seventeen assists, marking their second-highest assist total this season.
Hobin’s six made three-pointers set a new career high for him and marked the first time this season that an Air Force player has scored at least twenty points in a conference game. Ethan Greenberg contributed thirteen points with three threes, while Wesley Celichowski added eleven points along with four rebounds and two steals.
Three freshmen—Chris Catchings, Riley Dering, and Keaton Frisch—made their collegiate debuts during the game. Freshman Sam Imade also registered his first career points on a successful three-point shot.
The contest was Air Force’s first under interim head coach Jon Jordan.
