Air Force men’s basketball was defeated by Colorado State 81-52 in a Mountain West Conference game on Tuesday night at Moby Arena in Fort Collins. The Falcons now hold a record of 3-16 overall and 0-8 in conference play, while Colorado State improved to 11-7 overall and 2-5 in the Mountain West.
Freshman guard Kam Sanders led Air Force with 11 points, shooting 5-for-11 from the field. He also contributed two steals and tied for the team lead with two assists. Freshman Lucas Hobin added 10 points and made all three of his free throw attempts. Sophomore Eli Robinson collected a game-high 10 rebounds.
Colorado State had a balanced scoring effort, with Jase Butler, Brandon Rechsteiner, and Josh Pascarelli each recording 11 points. The Rams shot 52 percent from the field and made ten three-pointers during the game.
Air Force struggled offensively in the first half, making only 29 percent of its shots from the field and converting just 14 percent from beyond the arc. At halftime, Colorado State led 38-21 after hitting seven three-pointers in the opening period.
The Falcons improved their offense slightly in the second half, scoring 31 points. However, Colorado State maintained control by shooting 56 percent after halftime and did not allow Air Force to close the gap.
Air Force will next play at Boise State on Saturday, January 24. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Mountain Time at ExtraMile Arena in Boise, Idaho, and will be streamed on the MW Network.
