Air Force Academy’s swimming and diving teams are preparing for a busy weekend at the Cadet Natatorium, marking their final home events of the 2025-26 season. The Air Force Diving Invitational will run from Thursday, January 29 to Saturday, January 31. Teams from BYU, California Baptist, Colorado State, Denver, Fresno State, Northern Colorado, San Jose State, and Wyoming are set to participate.
The swimming team will compete against Denver in the Colorado Sprint Championships on Saturday, January 31. A senior day recognition ceremony is also scheduled during this event.
Access procedures remain in place at the U.S. Air Force Academy for athletic events. Visitors without Department of Defense identification cards must obtain a visitor pass. This year, passes are being issued monthly instead of per event. According to event organizers: “This means ticket holders only need to complete the form once per month to gain access to all events during that time.” Passes can be requested online.
The schedule for the Diving Invitational includes preliminary and final rounds for men’s and women’s springboard and platform events across three days. Team events will take place on Friday afternoon.
Several Air Force athletes currently hold top conference times or scores in their respective disciplines. For the women’s team, Katie Andrist ranks in the top ten in multiple freestyle distances within the Mountain West (MW) conference; Naomi Furman has strong breaststroke performances; and Chloe Perkins leads MW rankings on platform diving while also qualifying for NCAA Zone meets.
On the men’s side, swimmers like Louie Body and James Winterfield are among the MPSF leaders in backstroke and individual medley events. Divers Lucas Gerten and Vann Hotchkiss have posted some of the highest marks on both springboard and platform within their conference standings.
In recent competition last weekend, Air Force women defeated Colorado Mesa but lost to BYU; Lulu Semakula led a sweep on the 1-meter board while Chloe Perkins won on 3-meter. On the men’s side, Air Force fell to both BYU and Colorado Mesa in Provo, Utah—James Winterfield achieved a win in the 200 IM event.
After this weekend’s competitions conclude at home, Air Force will travel north for the Denver First Chance Invitational at El Pomar Natatorium on February 6-7.
