The Air Force golf team will travel to Augusta, Georgia, for the 47th annual Augusta Haskins Award Invitational on April 4 and 5. The event is hosted by the University of Augusta at Forest Hills Golf Club.
The tournament brings together a strong field of collegiate teams, with seven of the sixteen participating teams ranked in the top thirty nationally. Three teams are ranked in the top ten. This competition provides an opportunity for Air Force golfers to measure themselves against some of the best college players in the country.
Air Force’s lineup includes Brooks Morrell, Ben Zeiler, Carson Baker, Eli Huntington, and Eric Liveringhouse. The format consists of thirty-six holes on Saturday and eighteen holes on Sunday on a par-72 course measuring 7,086 yards. Each team’s four best scores each day will count toward its total score.
The history of the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational dates back forty-seven years. Notable past winners include Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson. The Fred Haskins Award itself honors outstanding collegiate golfers as voted by their peers and coaches. Last year’s tournament ended with Texas and Oklahoma State tying for first place while North Carolina’s Davis Ford won individually.
Air Force last participated in this invitational in 2023 when it finished fifteenth overall. Returning player Brooks Morrell competed as a freshman that year alongside Ted Davenport.
Four Falcons have played all twenty-four rounds this season; Eli Huntington leads with a stroke average of just over seventy-five per round. Freshman Ben Zeiler recently earned Mountain West Men’s Freshman Golfer of the Week after his performance at UC San Diego Invitational where he finished fifteenth overall with his career-best score.
After this event, Air Force is scheduled to play at the Iowa Hawkeye Invitational later in April.
