Air Force Football Head Coach Troy Calhoun, along with senior fullback Dylan Carson and junior linebacker Blake Fletcher, met with local media to discuss the upcoming 2025 season. The Falcons are set to open their campaign against Bucknell on Saturday, August 30 at 1:30 p.m. in Falcon Stadium.
The team ended the 2024 season on a four-game winning streak, defeating Fresno State and Oregon State at home and securing road victories over Nevada and San Diego State. This streak is currently the longest in the Mountain West Conference and ranks fourth nationally.
Air Force’s academic achievements continue to stand out as well. The football program posted a 992 Academic Progress Rate (APR) in the most recent NCAA four-year cycle, placing eighth nationally and leading all Mountain West teams. It marks the 13th consecutive year that Air Force has ranked in the top ten for APR scores. In previous years, Air Force led the nation with a score of 997 in 2019 and was second with a score of 993 in 2018. The APR is used by the NCAA to monitor academic eligibility, retention, and graduation among student-athletes.
Additionally, Air Force Football was one of six programs at the academy to achieve a perfect Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 100 percent. In total, fourteen Air Force programs were recognized by the NCAA for GSRs of 95 or higher. All colleges offering athletic aid are required by NCAA rules and federal law to report graduation rates for student-athletes.
For fans planning to follow the team this season, all twelve games have been selected for national television coverage. Eleven games will be played on Saturdays, with one Friday matchup. Both service academy rivalry games will air on CBS: at Navy on October 4 at noon ET and hosting Army on November 1 at 10 a.m. MT.
Six other games will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network—including the opener against Bucknell—and two road contests will air on FS1. Additional matchups against Hawaii and San Jose State have been picked up by Fox Sports networks; kickoff times are yet to be announced.
Looking ahead to their opponents this year, Air Force holds an all-time record of 216-148-3 against its scheduled foes for a .593 winning percentage. The matchups against Bucknell and UConn will be first-ever meetings between these programs.
Historically, Air Force has performed well in season openers, holding a record of 48-19-2 overall and going 42-8 when opening at home. The Falcons have won their last eighteen openers—third-longest active streak nationally behind Ohio State (25) and Alabama (23). At home, they have taken nineteen of their last twenty openers.
The Falcons also boast an undefeated record in August games (12-0), all played at Falcon Stadium. Head Coach Troy Calhoun himself is unbeaten in August contests (5-0). This marks consecutive seasons that Air Force opens play in August—a pattern seen only five times before in program history.
