Air Force Women’s Basketball was defeated by UNLV, 78-47, in a game held Wednesday evening in Las Vegas. The matchup was a rematch of the Falcons’ season opener.
Senior Emily Adams led Air Force with 12 points, tying her career high. She also contributed nine rebounds and three assists. This performance marked Adams’ second consecutive game scoring in double digits and her third such outing this season.
The opening minutes saw both teams trading baskets, with Air Force briefly holding a lead thanks to five quick points from McNabb. However, UNLV’s Shelbee Brown helped the Lady Rebels seize control just before the first media timeout, sparking an 11-2 run that put UNLV ahead. By the end of the first quarter, Air Force had scored only once on their last eleven attempts at the basket, trailing 18-9.
UNLV extended its lead to 20 points by halftime. While Air Force improved its shooting percentage in the second quarter to .357, it was not enough to slow down UNLV’s offense. Brown scored eight of her sixteen total points during this period, leaving Air Force behind 41-21 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Air Force increased defensive pressure and forced three turnovers from UNLV. Adams led the Falcons with six points in that frame as they narrowed the deficit to 15 points. Despite this effort, a subsequent 9-0 run by UNLV restored their advantage. In the fourth quarter, UNLV outscored Air Force 17-8 to secure the win.
Air Force will next play at home against New Mexico on Saturday, January 24 at Clune Arena.
