Air Force lost to UNLV in a high-scoring game, 51-48, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday. The teams combined for over 1,200 yards of total offense, with Air Force accounting for 603 yards, including 428 rushing.
The game featured ten lead changes. UNLV quarterback Anthony Colandrea scored the winning touchdown on a 19-yard run with 36 seconds remaining. Air Force drove to the UNLV 23-yard line in the final moments but missed a potential game-tying field goal as time expired.
Senior fullback Owen Allen led Air Force with a career-high 192 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore quarterback Liam Szarka added 136 rushing yards and two scores. Senior wide receiver Cade Harris contributed two rushing touchdowns and totaled 91 offensive yards. Szarka also threw for 175 yards on 10-of-17 passing, including a touchdown pass to senior tight end Bruin Fleischmann, who has now caught a touchdown in four consecutive games.
UNLV gained 597 yards of offense. Colandrea passed for 368 yards, while receiver Daejon Reynolds had four catches for 139 yards and an 86-yard touchdown.
Junior linebacker Blake Fletcher recorded ten tackles for Air Force, marking his fourth time leading the team in tackles this season.
Air Force will play its next game at home against Wyoming on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 1:30 p.m. MT. The matchup will be broadcast by CBS Sports Network.
