The Air Force Falcons women’s volleyball team lost to Wyoming in four sets on Saturday, October 18, at Cadet East Gym. This match marked the first Mountain West rematch of the conference season for the Falcons. Head coach Macey Donathan adjusted lineups throughout the contest, but Air Force ultimately fell 15-25, 14-25, 25-16, 18-25.
Sophomore Alysa Walker led all players with 16 kills, making her one of only two athletes in the match to reach double digits in that category. Freshman Sam Pope had a career night with 23 assists, her first collegiate double-double of 11 digs, and also contributed her first two collegiate kills and one service ace. Senior Jordan Suan led defensively with 17 digs, while sophomore Grace Fiaseu recorded a team-high six assisted blocks.
Senior Ashley Bible started the match with a service ace, and early contributions from Walker and senior Alex Hatchett helped Air Force take an initial 6-3 lead. However, Wyoming responded with a five-point run and later extended their advantage with a 9-0 streak, closing out the first set 25-15.
In the second set, Wyoming opened with another scoring run before Bible put Air Force on the board. Despite kills from Walker, Hatchett, and Fiaseu, Wyoming maintained control and won 25-14.
The third set saw Air Force recover after an early deficit. Fiaseu and junior Annamaria Ramos contributed key blocks, while Pope’s kill and ace gave Air Force its first lead of the evening at 10-9. The Falcons built on this momentum to win their only set of the match 25-16—their first set victory over Wyoming this season.
Wyoming took control again in the fourth set despite Air Force briefly leading early on. Consistent offense from Walker kept Air Force close until Wyoming pulled away for a 25-18 win, completing a season sweep of the Falcons.
Air Force will continue conference play next week with road matches against Colorado State on Thursday, October 23, and Nevada on Saturday, October 25.
