Air Force Academy’s football team concluded its 2025 season with a 4-8 overall record, finishing eighth in the Mountain West Conference at 3-5. The Falcons recovered from a difficult start to win three of their final six games, including victories over Wyoming, San Jose State, and Colorado State.

The team ended the season on a positive note by defeating Colorado State 42-21 in Fort Collins. This win secured the Ram-Falcon Trophy for Air Force for the eighth time in the past decade and marks the 15th time in 18 years that they have claimed it. With no scheduled future meetings between Air Force and Colorado State, the trophy will remain at Air Force Academy.

Head coach Troy Calhoun led the Falcons through his 19th year at the helm, compiling a school record of 139-97. Under his guidance, Air Force continued its strong tradition in rushing offense, finishing third nationally with an average of 261.4 yards per game—marking their 12th consecutive year ranked in the top ten and their 42nd such finish in the last 44 years.

Air Force also ranked fourth nationally in time of possession with an average of nearly 34 minutes per game and led all teams in yards per completion at almost 18 yards. The Falcons’ offensive performance included scoring more than 30 points in each of their first six games—a feat not accomplished since 1998—and setting a Mountain West record by achieving seven straight games with at least 250 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Defensively, after allowing an average of 40 points and nearly 500 total yards during their initial six-game stretch (1-5), Air Force improved significantly by holding five of their last six opponents to no more than 21 points and under 350 total yards per game.

The season began with a decisive victory over Bucknell (49-13), extending Air Force’s streak of opening-game wins to nineteen—the second-longest active run nationally behind Ohio State’s twenty-five.

Coach Calhoun reflected on these achievements as part of another competitive campaign for Air Force football: “Air Force finished third in the nation in rushing with a 261.4 average, the twelfth consecutive year in the top ten and forty-second in the last forty-four years.”

The Falcons recorded two wins both at home and away this season and finished their schedule on a one-game winning streak.
