Air Force enters the series with a record of 10-10-2 overall and 6-7-1 in Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) play. The team is coming off three consecutive losses, most recently being swept by Bentley at home. Holy Cross holds a 10-8-2 overall record and is tied for second place in the AHA with an 8-2-2 league mark, but has not won in its last three games after a loss to Merrimack.
The teams have met 65 times since their first game in 1993, with Holy Cross leading the all-time series 27-24-14. Earlier this season, Holy Cross swept Air Force at Cadet Ice Arena with scores of 3-2 and 4-1. As conference rivals, Holy Cross leads the AHA series between the teams, having won the last 14 matchups against Air Force. The Falcons’ last win over Holy Cross was in December 2019.
Frank Serratore is in his 29th year as head coach for Air Force, holding a school record of 482-467-104 and a career record of 531-559-113 over his coaching tenure. Bill Riga coaches Holy Cross, now in his fifth year with an overall record of 84-80-13.
Air Force’s recent performance shows improvement after a slow start to the season; since October 31, they have gone 9-6-1 following an initial stretch where they were just 1-4-1 after playing RIT. The team’s top line—sophomores Will Dawson, Nick Sajevic, and Sam Stitz—has contributed significantly, being present for half of Air Force’s even-strength goals this season.
Defensively, Chris Hedden stands out nationally among defensemen with ten goals and ranks fourth with twenty-one points. Nick Sajevic leads the AHA in assists (19) and is second in total points (23). He also ranks highly both nationally and within the conference for faceoff wins and percentage.
Goaltender Dominik Wasik has started seventeen straight games for Air Force and currently ranks seventh in the league for goals-against average (2.61) and save percentage (.905).
Holy Cross features Jack Stockfish as its leading scorer with eight goals and nineteen points so far this season. In goal, Danick Leroux has started two of the last three games for the Crusaders and leads their goaltenders with a goals-against average of 2.40 and a .908 save percentage.
In recent seasons, Holy Cross has maintained dominance over Air Force; since 2016 they hold a significant advantage in head-to-head matchups.
