Air Force distance runners achieve top-10 marks at Husky Classic

The Air Force Academy’s track and field distance squad began the Husky Classic in Seattle with several notable performances on Friday, February 13. Competing against top programs from across the country, three Falcon athletes earned spots among the program’s all-time best marks.

Senior India Jones recorded a time of 15:53.19 in the women’s 5000-meter run, placing second out of 33 competitors and moving up to fifth on Air Force’s all-time list. She improved her personal best by nearly 25 seconds. Junior Ella Johnson finished third in the same event with a time of 16:01.59, shaving more than 27 seconds off her previous record and solidifying her position at eighth on the program’s list.

In the women’s 3000-meter run, junior Anna Harden clocked a time of 9:27.21, finishing 28th out of an 80-runner field and advancing to eighth place on Air Force’s all-time standings after cutting almost three seconds from her prior best.

On the men’s side, senior Jayden Nats won the 5000-meter run with a time of 13:46.52. His teammates Brenton Maddox and Tanner Lindahl placed eighth (13:57.69) and twelfth (14:00.64), respectively, impacting the program’s record book as Maddox entered at No. 15 and Lindahl at No. 19.

Air Force will continue its participation at the Husky Classic on Saturday, February 14, while other members of their track and field team are set to finish competition at the Jarvis Scott Invitational in Lubbock.
