The Air Force boxing team announced on Dec. 8 that the 2026 Wing Open Championships will take place at Clune Arena on Friday, Feb. 27. The announcement was made by head coach Dr. Mark Clifford as the Falcons finalized their schedule for the second half of the 2025-26 season.
The Wing Open is described as one of the most anticipated events on the Academy calendar and will serve as a highlight for the upcoming season. The finals in Clune Arena are set to be a major event for both athletes and spectators.
According to Clifford, the second half of the season will begin with Friday Night Fights at Cadet Gym Boxing Room on Jan. 16, marking their final appearance there for this academic year. On Jan. 24, Air Force will host teams from across the National Collegiate Boxing Association during its third annual Falcon Invitational at the Academy.
Following these home events, Air Force boxers are scheduled to compete in Seattle at the WAC Main Event from Jan. 30-31 and then travel to Reno for Mills Lane Memorial on Feb. 6.
The progression of rounds for this year’s Wing Open tournament starts with first-round matches in the Boxing Room on Feb. 4, followed by quarterfinals (Feb. 13) and semifinals (Feb. 20), before concluding with finals under arena lights later that month.
Winners from each weight class in these finals will form much of Air Force’s squad heading into National Collegiate Boxing Association regional championships in Reno (March 12-14) and national championships in Charlotte, North Carolina (April 16-18).
