Air Force and Navy are set to meet on the basketball court for the first time in two decades. The game will take place at Alumni Hall in Annapolis, Maryland, on Sunday, December 7 at noon Eastern Time. It will be broadcast on ESPN+ and can also be heard on AM740 KVOR with Jim Arthur providing play-by-play commentary.
The Air Force Falcons enter the matchup with a 3-7 record and are coming off an 80-65 loss to Pacific. The Navy Midshipmen hold a 5-5 record after their recent 66-59 win at Delaware State. Air Force is currently on a three-game losing streak, while Navy has won its last game.
Joe Scott leads Air Force as head coach in his tenth season, holding a school record of 97-176 and an overall career record of 281-353 over 22 seasons. Jon Perry is in his first season as head coach for Navy.
The series between the two teams dates back to January 13, 1968, when Air Force defeated Navy in Annapolis. The Falcons lead the all-time series with a record of 14 wins to Navy’s 11. Their most recent meeting was on November 27, 2005, also in Annapolis, where Air Force secured a victory by a score of 64-55.
This contest marks Air Force’s first game against another service academy since facing Army in 2021. Historically, Air Force holds a combined all-time record of 20-18 against Army and Navy.
There are coaching ties between the programs; Zack Curran, now an assistant coach for Navy, previously served as an assistant coach at Air Force from 2021 to 2025.
The current Falcons roster has played a total of 225 games compared to Navy’s roster total of 603 games played. Nearly half (47.1 percent) of Air Force’s scoring this season comes from its freshman class. Caleb Walker stands out nationally by ranking fourth in field goal percentage at a rate of 72.5 percent shooting. Freshman guard Kam Sanders recently set a new school mark by making fifteen consecutive free throws in one game against South Dakota—a record that had stood since it was established sixty-seven years ago.
After this matchup with Navy, Air Force will begin Mountain West Conference play against San Diego State on Wednesday, December 17; that game will air on CBS Sports beginning at eight p.m., Pacific Time.
